A lecture by Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy
The Eqbal Ahmad Centre for Public Education (EACPE) seeks to foster the use of science and reason to understand nature and society and so better enable all citizens of Pakistan to participate fully in the political, social, economic, and cultural life of their society; to exercise their democratic rights and responsibilities; to value human rights, democracy and the rule of law; to promote cultural and religious diversity; to raise awareness of global issues and the natural environment; and to advance the goals of international peace and justice.
EACPE is named to honour the life and work of distinguished Pakistani academic, activist, and public intellectual, Dr. Eqbal Ahmad.
“The EACPE record is very impressive, and hopeful — a rarity these days. About the webpage (design), I don’t have anything useful to say. Have little experience that’s relevant. To me personally, the range and choice of topics is appealing and impressive. I can’t think of any useful way to improve it.”

(Received on 5th May, 2017. As a member of the EACPE board, Professor Noam Chomsky was asked to suggest how to improve our main page)
nice watch
Very well chosen examples were explained in just the right amount of detail.Very well done for those who have limited or no knowledge of the sciences. Also the inherent conflict is presented in a manner that is not likely to be offensive to Muslims.
I so interested and want to be study.
very informative lecture.
Religions are like the cookies, diffrent brands but same taste, and serve for the same purpose. Its the evolution of Myths but science is the most sancere search for the truth. I personally do not see any conflect. But what matters most is the attitude to adopt science as a tool to explore the truths, not to achieve your ajendas.
Well done Mr Hooda bhi, Keep up good work
I had the privilege to meet Dr. Hoodbhoy. Being a scientist he believes in scientific approach and reason to understand the world. Curiosity has motivated human beings to understand this wonderful universe we are living in. Undoubtedly Scriptures have also attempted to explain the cosmos but it seems that it is sort of primitive and outdated edition now. Scientific methodology of induction and deduction, observation, hypothesis formulation and testing are painstaking indeed but are all aimed to lay bare the complexity of natural phenomena. Science unmatched contribution in understanding the world necessitates to exclusively rely on it for seeking truth. People like Hoodbhoy are precious assets and should be revered.
Touched. Outstanding arguments. Keep up the amazing effort.
intrested i want study about science
What a delight to hear his rationale and and reassuring words. What ever one discovers through science is in fact a creation of Allah when you really come down to it. For example the entire universe, everything in it and all of the logical relationships were created by the almighty and Allah wants us to discover his spectacular work. To deny science in my humble opinion is to deny Allah (SWT). Over the centuries Muslims have become literalists and ritualists, reading everything in the most narrow manner possible. May I suggest this site Newageislam.com this site present best ideas from all over the islamic world on interpretation of scientific discoveries and new challenges in light of faith. Please visit. Thank you.
