COVID-19 CAUSED ECONOMIC SHOCKWAVES THAT ARE STILL REVERBERATING TO THIS DAY.

Unemployment has become a semi-permanent reality for a major portion of the global human population.

According to the World Economic Forum, employment rates have fallen for the youth by 8.7% and for adults by 3.7% around the world.

In the United States the fall in employment has been exceptionally extreme — unemployment reached 14.8% in April 2020.

Meanwhile the elite of the economic system have seen their wealth rise by extraordinary levels.

A report by Swiss bank UBS referenced in a Guardian article claimed that the total value of the billionaire class reached more than ten trillion US dollars.

This vast economic inequality has caused massive political instability across the world. A case in point is South Africa which has been rocked by major violent protests and riots causing billions of dollars of damage. Though the arrest of a major politician sparked the event, the real underlying issues were Covid-19 exasperated economic inequality.

Instead of rioting in the streets, burning shops to the ground or simply becoming hopelessly dejected by the economic downturn, I propose that you avoid the following dangers in your desperation for lasting success:

Avoid the Gambler’s Mentality: do not rely on chance games to become rich or anything that relies on luck or any get-rich-quick-schemes.This is a dangerous delusion that will rob you of your future happiness.

Avoid Chasing Relationships: chasing other people is a waste of time, energy and money, which worsens financial problems, making escape from this pandemic induced recession much more difficult.

Avoid Wasting Time:this means no video-games, sports or anything requires time which is not making you money.

Avoid Begging for Jobs: when you beg people for employment you give them the opportunity to humiliate you either through rejection or enslave you through employment.

Avoid Wasting Money: this means spending nothing on anything no matter how much you want to spend money.

Avoid Idiots: they waste your energy and make you angry.

Here are things you can do to improve your lot in life:

Invest in Your Education: learning how to research and write essays and books and learning to sell your craft in the marketplace.

Pray to God: prayer is an often neglected area of life, which leads to disasters. The best thing is to pray for knowledge and calmness.

Start a Business: when you start your own business, you become a real boss.

Focus on Your Passion: stop focusing on things you have to do and focus on what you love to do.

Exercise Regularly: without exercise you shall either go to prison, hospital or the grave.

Meditate Regularly: mediation brings calmness and clarity both important for escaping poverty.

Keep a Journal: track all your troubling thoughts, this eliminates stress and increases your understanding of your problems from unanalysed angles.

Economic problems bring the worst in humans but with a good clean heart and a rational frame of mind, the problems of inequality can be managed. It is important to not expect immediate changes with this methodology. The goal is to deliver gradual changes in a positive direction where a pathway out of poverty can be delivered.

In summary, it is important to remember that despite the seemingly hard circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it could always be much worse; as such, the value of gratitude cannot be understated.

Always be grateful for every single moment that you have been gifted with.
